Read the signal correctly

A score is a signal, not a verdict.

Hosting affects server response and traffic capacity, but images, scripts, fonts, plugins, caching, and third-party tools can matter just as much.

Understand your result
01

Server response

How quickly the origin begins sending the page. Hosting, backend work, and cache configuration all influence this signal.

02

Page weight

The cost of images, video, fonts, and other assets delivered to a visitor’s device.

03

Browser work

How much JavaScript, layout, and rendering the visitor’s device must complete before the page feels responsive.

04

Caching

How effectively browsers, CDNs, and servers avoid repeating expensive work.

    Our method

    Honest guidance needs visible limits.

We separate tool output from editorial judgment and explain what a test can—and cannot—prove.

    01

    Workload before brand

Recommendations begin with the application, traffic pattern, operational skill, and support needs.

    02

    Evidence over marketing

Tool output is identified by source. We do not invent benchmark results or present estimates as observed data.

    03

Lab and field data stay distinct

A PageSpeed run is a controlled snapshot. Real visitors may experience the page differently.

    04

    Performance is a system

Hosting, code, page weight, cache, and third-party services are evaluated as separate parts of the same experience.

    05

    Trade-offs remain visible

Every hosting model comes with constraints. Useful guidance names them before asking you to buy anything.

    Common questions

Use one test as a starting point.

Does a low score mean I need a new host?

Not necessarily. A slow server response can indicate a hosting or backend problem, while large images, JavaScript, fonts, and third-party tools are usually page-level issues. Diagnose the bottleneck before considering a migration.

Why does my result change between runs?

Test conditions, server load, caches, page content, and third-party services can vary. Run more than one test and compare trends instead of treating a single score as absolute.

    Is the test free?

Yes. No account is required. It uses the public Google PageSpeed Insights service and is subject to Google’s availability and usage limits.

    Are Fit Finder results sponsored?

No. The tool recommends a hosting category, not a paying provider. If affiliate links are introduced elsewhere, they will be clearly labeled and will not change the Fit Finder result.

Can I test a private or preview page?

No. Use only public URLs that Google can access. Never submit a private link containing credentials, access tokens, personal information, or other secrets.

    Start with evidence

Know the bottleneck before you change the host.

Run a public-page test, review the highest-impact opportunities, then use the hosting guide to decide what belongs at the infrastructure layer.
